the process
An embodiment of Soleil Soleil’s sensibility, Sundrop is a patchwork of original paintings composed into placements. Featuring borders, tiles, suns, and stripes, these signature motifs are rendered across multiple layouts. Each one, a manifestation of the way we see summer.
Named for the Sanskrit word for sun, Surya takes its spirit from Navagraha — the nine celestial bodies of Hindu cosmology. Where Sundrop captures the essence of summer as a feeling, Surya serves as a direct devotion to the sun itself. Painted in a shared palette, it distills that same energy of light and warmth.
PARTNERSHIP WITH PROJECTTHRIVE
Crafted in partnership with Projecthrive, The Penny Mini Skirt in Surya Crochet was handmade by female artisans in Uttar Pradesh, India. Through this collaboration, we were able to provide meaningful employment for 10 women working from home observing purdah — a cultural practice that limits their access to traditional employment.
